Meet Mie:
Mie, a 28-year-old singer-songwriter and producer from Milwaukee, continues to captivate audiences with her poignant originals and soul-baring storytelling. Known offstage as Maggie but performing as Mie (pronounced "mEE"), she has established herself as a musical force to be reckoned with.
Mie's musical journey began at seven, performing a cappella solo on stage, which sparked her passion for the arts. She developed her diverse talents through lessons in piano, voice, guitar, dance, and theater. During her primary school years, Mie traveled the U.S., participating in Kodály children’s choral concerts, enriching her artistic depth.
Through her music, Mie processes the emotional weight of her childhood experiences, including trauma and estrangement from her family. Her journey of healing and self-discovery shines through in her heartfelt songs like "Daddy Issues," "Mine," and “Too Much.”
Drawing inspiration from the lyrical prowess of 2000s songwriters such as Jewel, Adele, and Alicia Keys, Mie’s music spans electropop, blues, folk, and Americana. Her ability to cross genres allows her to resonate deeply with a broad audience.
Her debut, "Alchemie EP," released in 2021, features five tracks influenced by artists like Billie Eilish, Jessie Ware, and India.Arie Simpson. The EP enjoyed global attention, amassing over a thousand streams in fifty cities worldwide within its first month. Mie describes the EP as transforming life's darkest moments into "beautiful liquid gold," a nod to the mystical philosophy of alchemy.
Mie’s music journey has led her to remarkable milestones, including a performance at the renowned "World's Largest Music Festival," Summerfest (2023). She has also been featured on The Musician's Venture podcast and The Wisconsin Music podcast, where she candidly shares her transformative journey in music. Notable performances include American Family Field's "Live from Left Field" series (2023), SoFar Milwaukee at Amorphic Beer (2023), Nö Studios (2023), the #iVoted Festival (November 2022), and most recently, opening for Ben Mulwana at The Coffee House, following her southern tour with Cullah.
Last summer, Mie teamed up with Timothy Rose to form Venus Sugar High, a creative collaboration dedicated to producing original pop compositions. Their eagerly awaited project is slated for release in 2024. Additionally, fans can look forward to Mie's upcoming pop rock single, "Freakshow," set to drop in October of this year.
